Adding Distribution List as users to a Site

I have a situation here. I want to add Distribution Lists(DLs) as
users to a Sharepoint site. I am aware that we can do this, however
Sharepoint adds individual members of the DL as the users to the site.
What i want is that i want to add the DL as an object. Is this
possible ...

It's not possible, as DLs don't have the necessary security information.

But you can add  (NT/AD) Groups as members  since these are security
principals.
