Adding a button to a list item in Sharepoint 2010

Asked By: Angelique    Date: Jan 11    Category: Sharepoint 2010    Views: 8371

I have a list that contains an internal list of jobs. I need to add a button to
each list item that will let a user 'apply' for a job, basical just fire a
workflow that adds the job to another internal list anlong with the user that
'applied' for the job.

Outside of coding a custom list is there an easy way to do this in sharepoint

jQuery that sucker! Add a button that runs a web service call that adds the item
to the new list with the current user ID.

That sounds great, you wouldn't happen to know a blog or something I could look
at would you? Everyone at work seems to think the only way to do this is via a
webpart, but I think that this sounds like an easier solution, though none of us
have ever used jQuery

Ready-made jQuery library for web service calls from SharePoint, specifically.
Use jQuery to add an <input> tag to the DOM and fire the SPServices call you

I've had to do something similar. This is what I did.

-Used jQuery within a CEWP that will convert text inside <div> tags to HTML.
See EndUserSharePoint.com for this.
-Create a Calculated field in your list that formats the HTML string inside the
<div></div>. This HTML includes an <img> tag along with a URL. This
calcualated field allows you to include column values with this string.

The example at the following URL does what I believe you requested but for 2007.
