Active Directory users imported to Sharepoint

Asked By: Willis Camacho         Date: Sep 15, 2005      Category: Sharepoint      Views: 342

I have imported users from the active directory using "Mange Profile
Database" under "User Profile, Audiences, and Personal Sites" in Site
Settings.

Is there a way that all these users get into "Manage Users" listing
under "General Settings" and have Reader role assigned instead of
manually typing in each user and assigning them the profile.

OR

If they cannot be added into "Manage Users" listing then have thir role
default to "Reader" profile after import from Active Directory.

if you just do a "NT AUTHORITY\AUTHENTICATED USERS" or create a group in AD (even DOMAIN USERS would work in some cases). - thats how we do it.

What I normally do is add DOMAIN\DOMAIN users  with Reader permission.
That usually covers everyone. For the rare cases that it doesn't, then I
will add individual users (although, I try to avoid that and focus on
domain groups only).
