Active Directory front-end for managing SharePoint users

This might be slightly off-topic, but I was wondering if anyone knows of a web-based front-end for Active Directory to use in conjunction with SharePoint Portal Server 2003? While we could give our support staff access to the server and Active Directory objects, we think it would be a much better scenario to have them access some web pages for adding and modifying AD users. It seems like there has to be something out there already as I don't want to have to develop an entire front-end to support active directory. Anyone have any ideas?

We have started developing a similar solution to allow so far the solution we have offer the ability to add/udpate users, set password and disactivate a user. We are working on enhancing the solution

A tool called Imanami Webdir can be used for this and other AD management functions, including some delegation to users. Version 3 seems to be quite comprehensive. It is not integrated with SPS/WSS but is deployed as a web application (asp)

Its not completely what you are looking for but it bolts on nicely to Sharepoint and replaces Account Creation Mode
