Account Creation Mode Deployment

Asked By: Candice    Date: Aug 17    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 635

The SharePoint Portal Server v2.0 Beta Administrator's Guide talks about
Active Directory Account Creation Mode. However, there is no explanation
of how to install SPS using this mode. The WSS Administrator's Guide
provides step-by-step instructions. Can I follow these instructions?
What would be different for an SPS installation? Is it as simple as
replacing stsadm.exe with spsadm.exe?

Secondly, I'm still confused by what appear to be conflicting statements
in the SPS Administrator's Guide. First the Guide says that "you cannot
use pre-existing domain accounts; instead new accounts are created
whenever you add users." Yet the next the next paragraph says "Windows
SharePoint Services Beta 2 checks Active Directory to see if an account
with that e-mail address or group name already exists. If the user or
cross-site group already has an account in Active Directory, the account
is used."

I'd really like to give Account Creation Mode a try, so any advice would
be much appreciated,
