Account Creation Mode

Anyone tried using SPSv2 in Active Directory Account Creation Mode?

We have two types of users - paid staff (about 30 users) that already
have existing AD accounts and volunteers (about 300 users) that do not
yet have AD accounts and that turnover quite frequently.

I'm interested in hearing from anyone that has used Account Creation
Mode or that has compared the two modes. What's your experience been?
What are the pros, cons, limitations, etc.?
