Accessing WSS web services using Network Service account

I’m trying to access the lists web service from a web application. I’m impersonating the app pool account in the web app and calling the GetListItems web method, but as of yet I haven’t gotten it to work. I’ve given the Network Service account permissions on the wss site. Thanks in advance,
