How to access Site Keywords in code on SPS 2003?

  Asked By: Brenton    Date: Oct 15    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 6582

I'm trying to access the list of keywords on our SharePoint Portal Server 2003 site using code, as I would like to associate the keywords with documents that are uploaded through a Web Part I developed.

I managed to access the GUID of the Keywords Area on the site using the AreaService:
localhost_AreaService.AreaService areaService = new KeywordsTester.localhost_AreaService.AreaService();
areaService.Credentials = CredentialCache.DefaultCredentials;
System.Guid guid = areaService.GetKeywordsAreaID();

I also managed to get the AreaData and AreaDataListing objects for the keywords area:
localhost_AreaService.AreaData area = areaService.GetAreaData(guid);

And from this, I'm able to get some information about the area, including the URL
string keywordUrl = area.UrlNavigation;
It returns "/?CatID=bf1ce7cb-3b74-415f-8376-92300623463f" which corresponds with
http://SERVER_NAME/default.aspx?CatID=bf1ce7cb-3b74-415f-8376-92300623463f which is the URL of the Keywords page.

However, what I would like to do is to get the keywords hierarchy from code. I have so far been unable to find a class that deals with Areas (letting me open the Keywords area using the GUID or by dealing with Keywords directly).

I'd appreciate if anyone can give me some insight on this.
