Access denied on Content Crawl of a specific site

Asked By: Cale    Date: Sep 28    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1285

I am trying to crawl an internal site that the content access account
has author rights to, but every time SharePoint tries to crawl the site, I
get an access denied error on the content sources log. If I log into the
site with IE using the crawl account I don't get any errors so I am not sure
why I am getting this error.

On the IIS logs for the web site I can see that the crawl account logs in
when I try to access the site directly using IE but when I try to crawl the
account on SharePoint, I get an access denied 401 error. In addition these
401 errors don't show which user id tried to access the site, all it shows
is the ip address of where SharePoint Portal Server resides.

Any ideas?
