"Access is denied. Check Default content access account " message

Access is denied. Check that the Default Content Access Account has access to
this content, or add a crawl rule to crawl this content. (The item was deleted
because it was either not found or the crawler was denied access to it.)

This message is about the main web app which is on SSL.
Not sure what to do about this..
The default content access account does have access to the web app, but it isn't
getting crawled.
I saw some blog entries about the DisableLoopbackCheck and tried modifiying that
in the registry but that didn't work either.
In addition, I also created a web app on http and it got crawled with no
problem..

Any ideas?
