it takes me 30+ secs to completely load a dashboard

Asked By: Harshini    Date: Sep 30    Category: MOSS    Views: 5632

don't know whether it is suitable to post my question in this forum.

my structure:SSAS2008+SSRS2008+MOSS2007, and they are deployed in one machine.

i created a new dashboard, and in that page, i then added 10 webparts.

each of them contains an SSRS2008 report, whose datasource is an SSAS2008 cube.

it always takes me more than 30 seconds to completely load the dashboard

(here for "completely",i mean all the reports show up correctly)

what could be the bottleneck? how can i diagnose it?

You could run a trace on the SSAS instance with profiler to see if there is anything abnormal going on. Another thing would be to review the execution log in the ReportServer database to see if the issue is on the rendering or the data side of things with SSRS.

The other thing I would want to know is what version of IE are you using. If you are not using IE8 then you should definitely consider upgrading because of the threading capabilities - PerformancePoint: Fix slow rendering dashboard  issues with Internet Explorer 8!.

Are you using PPS 2007 at all for the dashboard output or are you just using the Report Viewer. If you can you might want to look at moving this to a PPS dashboard if you have that available to you.
