2007 Sharepoint Question

I have been asked the following question:

Do you now if the the 2007 version of Sharepoint enables a more in-depth
ability to calculate data from different sharepoint libraries? For
instance, can I subtract field A in library 2, from field A in library
1, whenever the item from field B in library 1 is equal to 'Jane Doe?

Can anyone answer this or point me in the right direction. Thanks in
advance.

What are you going to do with the answer. I'm sure you can write an application
that accesses SharePoint Services and get want you watn using the SharePoint
Object Model.

What am I going to do with the answer!?!?!?!? Obviously I am going to
give that information to the person who asked me the question.

Anyway, I was trying to find out if this is possible in MOSS 2007 out of
the box or if this will involve custom code. I am already aware of
manipulating the Object Model.

I think he was looking for examples of how
you're going to use the answer. Sometimes knowing what someone is
trying to do will help you figure out how to get them there. Santosh
Kanse's recent questions about Security Groups is a good example.
