1 home page, 3 separate themes

I have a customer who wants 1 home page but depending on your department
(useraccess) which there are 3 departments, he would like to have a separate
theme, color and banner for each site. I am thinking to creat 3 separate sites
and depending on access you get that page of your department and hide the others
which is easy. But how can I update the home pages to be the same content?

Look into "Variations" and see if that gets you what you're looking for.
This isn't exactly what they're meant to do, but I think it will work.
