Multiple sites & multiple SharePoint servers

What I would like to do is have one server  in NJ with document
management, search and Protal and second one in India. I would also
like both to synch so that way it doesn't take long long time for
users to check out files.

We also have StarTeam and DOORS, I want SharePoint to crawl those
sites for documents also.

I hope somebody has done this and their experiance with it.
